Microsoft IIS and PERL Compatibility

This document is designed to address a common, known issue with many of our Microsoft IIS customers whom are looking to take advantage of our PERL products, including InverseFlow Web Invoice Suite. The following steps should be taken on any Microsoft IIS server before installing our PERL products:

Before you begin, please be sure you have full administrative access to the server.

  1. Open IIS Services Manager
  2. Open the Tree View
  3. Highlight the website in question by URL or usename
  4. Select properties action
  5. Select the 5th tab over to the right
  6. Configuration at Bottom: Application Mappings
  7. Identify .PL and .CGI
  8. If either of the above (.PL or .CGI do not exist) use the ADD button to create them
  9. Select one of the two and click EDIT
  10. Change PERL.EXE to PERLISS.DLL. You may have to look up the direct path to the PERLISS.DLL file. If you are unable to locate the direct path, contact your server admin. An example is: e:/perl/bin/perliis.dll
  11. Be sure to save changes and exit.
